About Wildwood, NJ

watch-the-tram-carWildwood. New Jersey – Wildwood is where you’ll find all the action on the little barrier island that is also home to Wildwood Crest and North Wildwood. You’ll find families, mobs of teens, and recent grads celebrating — all sharing the beaches and boardwalk. The crowds may be a little frustrating at times, but if you want to be where the action is, you want to be in Wildwood!

From Memorial Day through Labor Day and beyond, families, teens, grads, and more flock to Wildwood to celebrate summer. More than 250,000 people fill Wildwood at the height of summer; the off-season population is under 10,000. Quiet isolation? You probably won’t find that in Wildwood!

The center of attention is the two mile long Wildwood boardwalk. Stretch your legs walking the thirty-seven city blocks worth of planks. You could easily spend a day playing at Morey’s Piers, three piers of rides and two water parks for kids of all ages. From six rollercoasters to tempt the thrill-seekers, to racing tracks for the speed demons, and lounge areas for tired parents — Morey’s Piers has it all covered!

The Wildwood boardwalk almost seems to go on forever. And if you decide to start investigating the shops, arcades, food stands, and games that line the boards… your walk just might take forever! Anything you could possibly need for a day at the beach can be found on the Wildwood boardwalk. Gift shops stock up on sunscreen, towels, tee shirts, umbrellas, sunglasses, and everything else you might have forgotten. It is easy to do your souvenir shopping on the Wildwood boardwalk, too. Hit the candy shops for the traditional Jersey shore souvenir — salt water taffy — to send home to friends and family.

Wildwood’s beaches are actually growing! Water currents deposit more than a hundred feet of new sand on Wildwood every year. So there’s plenty of space to spread out your towel and soak up some sun. The beaches of Wildwood (and North Wildwood and Wildwood Crest) are free– no beach badges needed here! Travel know-it-alls like Conde Nast and the Travel Channel frequently feature Wildwood in their Best Beaches lists.
