Arcades, mini golf, and beaches Sea Isle City has them all. It’s a great family destination, without the crowds you would encounter in a more popular shore town like Wildwood.

In Sea Isle City, you’ve got five miles of beach to choose from. You’re not going to be packed onto the sand towel-to-towel like some of the better known south Jersey destinations. You’re going to need to buy a beach badge to hit the beach in Sea Isle City, but the town often has one day a week when you can go badge-less, or at least get the kids onto the sand for free. Instead of a planked boardwalk, Sea Isle City has a paved promenade that stretches about a mile and a half. Despite the lack of actual boards, it has got a lot of the things you’d expect on a boardwalk — gift shops, concession stands, arcades, games of chance, and other amusements.

Make time for a beachcomber walk, sponsored by the Sea Isle City Environmental Commission — it’s a fun way to get the family out and moving, and learning a little more about the natural history of the Jersey shore. Need more family activities? Sea Isle City is full of parks and playgrounds. You can even sign the kids up for summer activities at the Community Lodge.

On Monday and Wednesday nights during the summer, Sea Isle City offers a free concert series. You can check out the best local entertainment; all you need is a beach chair or blanket to sit on. And if you insist on spending money, you can shop Sea Isle City’s three shopping districts: downtown, the promenade shops, and the shopping center.

Like a lot of other shore towns, Sea Isle City offers a lot of opportunities for boating, crabbing, and fishing. Don’t have the patience to sit with a rod and reel all day? You can still get a fresh seafood dinner in town. Try Mike’s Seafood or Carmen’s Seafood, both on 43rd Street, or Busch’s Seafood Restaurant at 86th and Landis.

Sea Isle City has quite the nightlife for such a small town! Whatever your taste in entertainment, you’ll find it in Sea Isle City. Check out the Dead Dog Saloon for acoustic music in a bar where you can actually carry on a conversation without shouting. Would you rather let the music do the talking? Dance to your favorite Top 40 hits at the Ocean Drive. And if you’re on the hunt for local musicians, you can usually find them at Kix-McNutley’s.

Sea Isle City is a beach town with a heavy focus on the beach. It’s a little smaller, a little quieter, and a lot less crowded. For a great family getaway, you’ve got the ocean, the promenade and amusements, and fun freebees in town. And when you need a little more action than the Sea Isle City nightlife can provide, Wildwood and Atlantic City are just a short drive away.
