6 Jersey Shore Charity Runs Happening in July
Almost anyone who’s been to the Jersey shore on vacation knows that there’s usually at least one person going for a run on the beach. If you’d rather exercise with a group of people and help others while you’re at it, however, participating in these Jersey shore charity runs this month could be incredibly fulfilling!
Veterans’ Benefit 5K
On July 24th at 9:00 a.m., registered participants will walk or run on Veteran’s Way, a flat, certified, and tree-lined course in East Brunswick, to raise money for veterans and their needs. Medals will be given to the top three male and female finishers in various age categories. There will be a post-race party with food and beverages. Register by July 18th for this event sponsored by VFW Post #133.
Miles for Minds 5K and Fun Run/Walk
On July 24th, in Roosevelt Park, the JFK Medical Center will raise money for its Center for Head Injuries to help individuals recovering from brain injury by holding a Fun Run/Walk starting at 8:30 a.m. and a 5K starting at 9:00 a.m. The course is USATF certified. Awards will be given for the 5K and ribbons for the Fun Run/Walk. There will be giveaways, music and t-shirts for the first 300 to register for the Fun Run/Walk!
Chasing the American Dream 5K
This 5K Run/Walk on July 28th at Duke Island Park in Bridgewater will benefit several organizations, including Abilities of Northwest Jersey, Central Jersey Housing Resource Center, Elle Foundation, Empower Somerset, HomeSharing Inc., Hugs for Brady, Matheny Medical & Educational Center, New Jersey Community Capital, New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation, Prevent Child Abuse New Jersey, Somerset County YMCA, Somerset Home for Temporarily Displaced Children, and Summit Speech School. There will be music, games and prizes, food and drink, and awards for the top overall finishers as well as in different age groups. Those running the 5K will get t-shirts, while kid sprinters get medals. The Kid Sprints start at 5:00 p.m., followed by the 5K at 6:00 p.m. and the Awards Ceremony at 7:15 p.m.
Warriors in Need 5K and 1 Mile Walk
At Fort Mott in Pennsville on July 30th, participants will run or walk at 8:30 a.m. to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. Awards for best overall time and for different gender and age groups will be given to 5K runners. Pre-register for a t-shirt!
Al Mackler Cancer Foundation Annual Run
On July 31st starting at the Tropicana in Atlantic City, help fight pediatric cancer by walking or running on the boardwalk to raise money for the Al Mackler Cancer Foundation. The 5K Run, 1 Mile Fun Run, Stephen Jonas 1 Mile Walk, and Kids’ 50 Yard Dash all begin at 7:30 a.m.
Asher Strobel Memorial Run
At Madison Park in Englewood at 8:30 a.m. on July 31st, the inaugural RUN AST to benefit the Asher Strobel Leadership Program of The East Hill Synagogue will commence. The 5K course includes hills, so be prepared!
With all of these fantastic Jersey shore charity runs going on in July, it may be impossible to do them all without having your feet fall off! While we don’t recommend overdoing it, participating in just one of these events will allow you to change lives for the better while getting a convenient workout in!
