Celebrate the 4th of July at the Jersey Shore

The 4th of July we celebrate Independence Day. It is the day we adopted the Declaration of Independence declaring our freedom from Great Britain. It is a day that is commonly celebrated with barbecues, fireworks, carnivals, festivals, concerts and other festive events. People come from across the country to celebrate the 4th of July at the Jersey shore. From fireworks to festivals there is no shortage of things to do 4th of July weekend at the Jersey shore. Fireworks are not always held on the 4th of July so it is important to call and get a date before going to watch them.

Oceanfest
Held on the 4th of July, Oceanfest is an annual event in Long Branch. Oceanfest has live music and food. They also have craft vendors. There is dancers, musicians, clowns, carnival acts and costumed characters. Oceanfest takes place rain or shine. The event is capped off with an awesome fireworks display at dusk.

First Saturday Asbury Park
Held the first Saturday of each month this free event spans the boardwalk and downtown area. There is a fun crazy party theme each month. Shops and galleries stay open late, some even serve cheese and wine. Restaurants and clubs offer monthly specials and many stay open until 2am.

Best viewing near the Steel Pier. This family friendly event is free of charge. It features the largest fireworks display in New Jersey. The event features a choreographed soundtrack with contemporary artists.

There is a kite flying competition followed by entertainment. The fireworks are launched from a barge in the Atlantic Ocean just off the Beach at 9th Street The fireworks display is choreographed to music and it can be seen and heard for the entire length of the boardwalk.

Wildwood has a fun three day event celebrating Independence day. Events include a patriotic run on the boardwalk, a parade, live entertainment, a craft show, a pooch parade, a farmers market, collectibles show, concerts, talent showcases and a sidewalk chalk competition. Fireworks are visble anywhere in the Wildwoods, but the best viewing is at the beach on Pine Avenue.
