Channeling Your Inner Child at the Jersey Shore
While looking up and down the beach, there are a few staples of things that you see. There are always seagulls, a few very sunburnt tourists, and most abundantly, there are kids having a great time. It is your turn to get in on the fun! Put on some goggles and blow up those water wings because it is time to channel your inner child at the Jersey Shore.
There are a few ways that you can go about doing this. To start, make sure that you are prepared for the day ahead. Call up some friends and hit the road. The day will be more fun with some people to share it with.
Once you are on the beach, you have a few options of what you should do next. The first and most intimidating option is to get into the water. This should be done in a way that gets you from point A, the sand, to point B, completely in the water, in less than ten seconds. Sprinting into the water can be one of the most fun experiences of the day if you let it be. So do whatever it takes, even if that means pretending to be a part of the Baywatch Lifeguard team.
While in the water, the next thing you should do is grab a boogie board and hit the waves. Nothing as a kid was better than catching the perfect wave and riding it as far as you could towards the shore. Pro-tip for adults: be aware of where your body weight is on the board. The last thing you want during a day of fun is a face full of sand because you leaned too far forward on the board. If a boogie board is a little pricey, there is always the equally fun option of body surfing. It is the same concept, but a little more challenging.
Naturally, the next step is to have some fun in the sand. Adults always seem to see sand as a nuisance and forget that it is the largest toy at the beach. There are a few things that can be done in the sand that will bring out your inner child. Sandcastle building is a classic childhood beach activity and can be improved upon as an adult. There are so many different things you can build with sand: your dream home, a giant mermaid, or even just the classic princess castle.
Another thing you can do that is very underrated is digging a hole. I know what you are thinking, “what is so good about digging a hole?” Well, digging a hole can be the most satisfying experience of your life. While starting out, it is going to be difficult. The sand will all slide in off the edges, but the deeper you dig, the easier it will get. The sand will start to change colors and eventually, you will hit water. Another fun thing about digging a hole is standing in it. You could even dig a hole big enough to make a chill pit for you and your friends.
At the end of the day, treat your self with an ice cream cone. You deserve it after a great day of getting back to your childhood roots at the Jersey Shore. Always remember, you are never too old to have a good time.
