Romantic Weekends at the Jersey Shore

Romantic Weekends at the Jersey Shore

When you’re craving some quality time with your sweetheart, sometimes your next vacation is just too long to wait.  This is where the romantic weekend getaway comes in.  Whisking your significant other off to a romantic destination for the weekend is just what is needed to reconnect and nurture your relationship.

Creating the right atmosphere and mood for your romantic weekend can be easy if you pick the right location and activities for your mini-vacation.  The Jersey Shore, with its beautiful beaches, lush vineyards and luxury accommodations is a perfect spot for lovebirds to connect.

The first step in visiting the Jersey Shore for your romantic weekend for two is picking which town will best suit your needs.

Atlantic City is great for those who want it all:  relaxing spas, casinos, fine dining, dancing, and beaches.  Active couples will be thrilled at the countless number of activities and events in America’s playground.

If relaxing scenic drives, fine wines and food, and shopping are more your thing – then a tour of some of the smaller coastal towns is perfect for you.

While Ocean City is known as “America’s Family Playground”, some couples may still be interested in checking out the musical pier (the music of local performers fills the air during the summer) or the Sea Shell Museum.

For couples looking to get out of the hustle and bustle of city life, an eco-tour in Sea Isle City is a wonderful treat.  Kayaking over the beautiful Atlantic Ocean allows you to breath in the salty sea air while taking in the wonderful animal and plant life of the New Jersey Shore.  Afterwards, relax those aching muscles over a lovely dinner of fresh local seafood.

The nearby town of Ocean Harbor boasts some lovely and romantic shops that will please any budget or taste.  After finding that perfect outfit or piece of home decor, treat you and your loved one to some scrumptious fresh baked treats at one of the town’s fine bakeries.

Of course one of the main reasons to visit the Jersey Shore is its beautiful beaches.  Avalon is famous for its wonderful expanses of beaches that stretch for miles.  Although it is wise to avoid Avalon during “Flotilla” July 31 or August 1, where a mardi-gras type festival occurs and thousands of people float down the river in watercrafts.  Although the activity is lots of fun, it is hardly a tender or intimate thing to do on a romantic weekend. But, as they say, whatever floats your boat!

Another great beach spot can be found in The Wildwoods.  A ride on the historic Wildwood Tram Car is always a lot of fun, and it will give you and your sweetheart a chance to rest your feet, while taking in the sights and sounds of the Wildwood boardwalk.

Couples looking for some more great scenery and history will love the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse.  Stroll through the beautiful early English style gardens surrounding the lighthouse and take in the beautiful Victorian-era architecture of the Hereford Lighthouse itself: one of the most beautiful and unique lighthouses in the world.

Another one of the gems of the Jersey Shore is Cape May – a Victorian era town that has tons of charm and character.  Imagine taking your beau up over two hundred stairs to the top of a light house to kiss under the stars.  Or, take a trolley ride across the historic town and soak up the wonderful atmosphere.  At the Cape May Day Spa, located in America’s oldest seaside resort, you can share an intimate and relaxing couples spa day.  What could be more romantic than toping off any of these activities with a private horse drawn carriage ride?  Cape May is truly a romantic’s paradise.

While you and your loved one are in the Cape May area, be sure to check out the Leaming’s Run, which is one of the world’s most beautiful gardens, and offer acres of flowers and romantic pathways to explore.

The New Jersey Shore has enough natural beauty and exciting activities to please any couple searching for a quick romantic escape from the daily grind.  These are just a few suggestions:  there are thousands more fun and romantic activities and destinations to discover along the Jersey Shore!
