You won’t find a whole lot of nightlife here, but with Atlantic City just twenty minutes away, Ocean City doesn’t really need it.

Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey Since the 1870’s when farmers began taking in summer boarders, Point Pleasant Beach has been a popular summer vacation spot. Today, Point Pleasant Beach continues to draw summer visitors. Some come for a day at the beach while others come for a more extended stay. There is plenty to do at Point Pleasant Beach and, not surprisingly, much of it revolves around the beach and the boardwalk. The first boardwalk was built here in 1890.

Sea Isle City, New Jersey

It has a paved promenade instead of a boardwalk, it has the rides and amusements, it has the arcades and mini-golf… it’s just a little bit smaller. That doesn’t mean Sea Isle City lacks nightlife — the town has lots of options for entertainment after dark. The town also offers free summer concerts and has many opportunities for boating, fishing, crabbing, and water sports.

Seaside Heights, New Jersey

Today, Seaside Heights is a top family destination and offers something for just about everyone. There are only 3100 year round residents in Seaside Heights. During the summer, however, that number explodes almost overnight. On any given day, there are between 30,000 and 40,000 visitors on the beaches and boardwalk of Seaside Heights.

Stone Harbor, New Jersey

Stone Harbor New Jersey is another laid back family vacation destination. The beaches are wide and clean and well-guarded — and far less crowded than Wildwood. Just steps from the beach you’ll find great shopping and dining, and the community offers a variety of recreational activities like tennis, basketball, arts and crafts, and more. Stone Harbor is also home to the Wetlands Institute and a Bird Observatory, two great places to explore the native New Jersey flora and fauna.

Wildwood Crest, New Jersey

Wildwood Crest New Jersey leaves the boardwalk excitement to nearby Wildwood, but offers the same great, free beaches. Wildwood Crest is a great place for spotting Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins playing in the water. No boardwalk here, but there’s plenty of action at Sunset Lake — free concerts, water sports, and legendary sunsets. Not much nightlife in Wildwood Crest, but the Wildwood boardwalk and bars are within walking distance.

Wildwood, New Jersey

Wildwood New Jersey’s boardwalk stretches two miles long, has three amusement piers and two water parks, plus the usual boardwalk arcades, games of chance, shopping, and concession stands. Wildwood is a very popular vacation destination between June and September. The beaches are free, the lodging is plentiful, you’ll find lots of restaurants, and there is a very active nightlife. Just about everything you need is within walking distance — Wildwood shares a five mile long barrier island with Wildwood Crest and North Wildwood.
